Editor’s Note: We wrote about this incredible program when it was first announced in October. Read that story here. But now that it is actually coming up, we thought that reminding everyone was certainly worth it.

The New Year is on its way and many are vowing to do more for those in need in 2010.  You are never too young to volunteer, and now there is more incentive than ever for kids and teens to get in on the action.

Disney and HandsOn Network want to encourage all young people to get out and lend a hand. The two have teamed up to create a new volunteer program called Give a Day, Get a Disney Day with the goal to inspire 1 million people to volunteer their time and energy to those in need. In return, the do-gooders will receive a free, one-day admission ticket to any Walt Disney World Resort or Disneyland Resort theme park.

“Disney Parks, through HandsOn Network, is making it easy for volunteers of all ages to find an organization in need,” said Maggie Jones Patton, executive director of Youth HandsOn Network. “There has never been a better time to start a new tradition of volunteering together as Disney Parks celebrates good deeds with a free Disney theme park ticket.”

In a survey conducted by Just Kid Inc., 37 percent of kids, 44 percent of tweens and 46 percent of teens said they would do more volunteering, if given the opportunity. Visit DisneyParks.com with your kids to find local opportunities for them to get involved, to sign up for their 1-day pass and for more information on the program. Kids must pre-register and sign up for an eligible volunteer opportunity at DisneyParks.com. Ticket quantities are limited and children must be at least 6 years of age to participate.  The Give a Day, Get a Disney Day initiative begins on January 1, so don’t wait!
