ikea-chair-MDThe U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and IKEA have announced the recall of more than 600 highchairs because the locks may snap causing the child to fall through the frame.  About a dozen reports have been filed including some bruised legs and arms and one child was mouthing the snapped lock.

This recall involves all colors of the LEOPARD highchairs sold as a seat and a frame individually. The seat and tray has an adhesive label affixed to the underside with the words LEOPARD and “Made in Italy,” an eight-digit article number and a five-digit supplier number (19589).  They were sold in IKEA stores nationwide and online between October 2009 through November 2009 for about $60.  The frame sold for $40 and the seat for $20.

Consumers should immediately stop use of the product and can return the item to the place of purchase for a full refund.  For additional information you may contact IKEA at 888-966-4532 or visit the company’s website here.
