I freely and openly admit that I’m a nerd. I’ve been known to read the dictionary, I know how to play chess (albeit not very well), and I listen to – nay, even like – classical music. Having wanted to be a ballerina when I was a little girl, The Nutcracker Suite by Tchaikovsky is one of my all-time favorite pieces. “The Dance of The Sugar Plum Fairy” is one of my favorite movements in the suite, so I’m always interested in seeing it performed in new and imaginative ways.

This video fits the bill. Even if you don’t like classical music, ballet, or even Christmas, you have to see this guy. I can almost guarantee that your jaw will drop. Robert Tiso presents the classic piece in a truly amazing show of control, timing, and memory. He stays on tempo; he manages staccato with a decidedly legato “instrument;” and there is not one mistake!

With almost 220,000 views already and a mention on Fark, I don’t think it’ll be very long at all before this is the next viral video sensation of the ‘Net. Grab your kids, gather around the computer, turn up the volume, and watch your kids actually like some classical music!
