‘Teens For Jeans’ an Easy Way for Kids to Help Haiti

By Kelly Turner on January 27th, 2010

Teens for Jeans 300x300If your kids want to help in the Haiti relief effort, but just don’t have the money, tell them to start cleaning out their closets to lend a hand.

DoSomething.org and clothing store Aeropostale have teamed up to collect jeans for the Haiti earthquake relief effort.

In the third annual Teens for Jeans drive, donations of new or gently worn jeans are given to homeless teens and charities.  Because of the recent earthquake in Haiti that left many people homeless, the Teens for Jeans drive will donate the first 100,000 pairs of jeans collected to homeless teens in Haiti.

Your kids can donate by dropping off any pair of gently worn jeans to any Aeropostale store by February 14th and Aero will send the jeans to the YMCA in Port-au-Prince to distribute them to those in need.  In addition, Aeropostale has agreed to match the number of jeans going to Haiti, so with enough help, 200,000 pairs of jeans will be delivered to Haitian teens who are in dire need.

To thank you for your donation, Aeropostale will even give everyone that donates an additional 25% off their next pair of jeans.

Get your kids, go through their closets, and pull out any pair of jeans that you haven’t seen them wear in the past couple of weeks, and give them to the kids who really need them.  New pants might not seem like it’s top on Haiti’s priority list, but sometimes it’s the ‘little’ things to us that others need most.
