‘What To Expect When You’re Expecting’ Coming To The Big Screen

what_to_expect-MDRights to adapt the book often referred to as the pregnancy bible have recently been acquired by Lionsgate films. What To Expect When You’re Expecting” will soon follow the footsteps of other advice books such as “He’s Just Not That Into You” where the how-to of the book will be role-played in a movie.  Expectant mom and experienced screenwriter Heather Hach will adapt Heidi Markoff’s wildly successful book to script.  “What To Expect When You’re Expecting”, the book,  is read by 93% of expectant moms, has sold over 20 million copies and has been translated into over 40 languages.  The movie will follow the relationships of seven couples as they experience the thrills, terrors, surprises, aches and pains of pregnancy.

I am not expecting an Oscar-worthy production, but I do look forward to seeing this film.  Perhaps it is just me, but I enjoy watching pregnancy and baby related movies.  I loved “Nine Months,” “Juno,” “She’s Having a Baby” and such because you get to go through all of the fun and excitement of pregnancy without going through the inevitable labor, recovery and cost of college tuition.  I am curious to see who is cast as the vicarious parents and if it will be as cutesy as Hach’s previous ”Freaky Friday” work.
