Jon Gosselin and TLC Settle Lawsuit

By Bridget Tyler on February 18th, 2010

gosselin-douche-1The famous father of eight and the people who put him in the world’s spotlight have finally reached a settlement in the network’s lawsuit, which claimed that Gosselin was in breach of contract for appearing on other TV shows.

“TLC has reached a settlement with Jon Gosselin and will be undertaking procedural steps to conclude the litigation. All terms of the settlement are confidential. The whole Gosselin family remain under contract with TLC,” the network says.

Gosselin’s lawer, Mark Heller, said in a statement to RadarOnline.com that “Jon has expressed his desire to close the litigation chapter of ‘Jon & Kate Plus 8′ and although all terms are confidential, he is hopeful that TLC will move forward with the best interests of the Gosselin family.”

Gosselin’s life has been roiling with controversy since he split with his wife last year. Despite a constant flow of news stories that teamed with infidelity, abuse and accusations, when the Gosselins finally signed their divorce papers in December, it was a no-fault agreement with very few points of contention.  Jon didn’t always handle the divorce process as well.  He spent much of the year previous bashing Kate, flaunting his new girlfriend Hailey Glassman and partying across the country.  Then “he woke up one morning, looked in the mirror and didn’t like the reflection,” Heller told In Touch magazine. It was time to make amends to his wife and try to end his marriage with grace.

For now, TLC plans to build a new series around Kate that may debut this spring.  They do not plan to include the children, or Jon, it seems, in the series at the moment.  But, since Jon is still under contract, they don’t want him sharing his story with other networks.
