Bristol Palin to Guest on ‘The Secret Life of the American Teenager’

By Bridget Tyler on February 24th, 2010

Bristol Palin is moving into a spotlight of her own with a guest staring role on “The Secret Life of the American Teenager.”  The ABC Family hit  follows a teenage mother and her family as they deal with the ongoing consequences of her pregnancy and help her raise her child. Bristol will play herself.  In her episode, she’ll meet the teen mother star of the show, Amy (Shailene Woodly), and befriend her at a music program for teen mothers.

Bristol gave birth to her son, Tripp Johnston, on December 27th.  She describes him as “awesome” but admits that he’s “a little fussy.”  Thankfully Bristol, like Amy on “Secret Life,” has a lot of help. Her mother, aunts and grandmother are all around to babysit and her fiance, Tripp’s father, Levi Johnston is “hands on.”  He has been staying with his soon to be in-laws much of the time in order to help care for his son.

The show’s executive producer, Brenda Hampton, says “Bristol Palin is the most famous teenage mother in America.  We’re thrilled to have her join us, and I think she will bring additional attention to the issues facing teen parents that we’ve been exploring for a couple of seasons now.”  Bristol agrees.  ”I’m thrilled to be on this show and to be a part of a program that educates teens and young adults about the consequences of teen pregnancy.”

Bristol isn’t the only Palin striking up a television career. Her mom, and former Vice Presidential Candidate, Sarah Palin signed a deal a few weeks ago to become a regular commentator on Fox News. She is also currently touring the country, promoting her new autobiography “Going Rogue.”
