In what could be one of the most tragic recalls of all time for cookie lovers, one of the manufacturers of Girl Scout cookies, Little Brownie Bakers, issued a recall today. Thankfully, only the Lemon Chalet Crèmes™ Cookies are affected by the recall. Also thankfully, the recall is not over an issue of sick customers, but rather quality. It seems that oil used in some of the cookies develops a strange taste and smell as it breaks down.
The bakers released a statement saying that they “recently received a few contacts from consumers informing us of an off taste and smell from certain packages of Lemon Chalet Crème cookies.” As a precautionary step, they immediately began testing product samples. “We determined that while the cookies are safe for consumers to eat, they are not up to our quality standards,” the company said.
