This week is chock-full of awesome nature shows, so I think I’m going to declare it unofficial “Nature TV Week” around my house! Oh, and a classic musical for good measure…

Sunday, February 28 -
7:00 – Planet Earth – Pole to Pole (Animal Planet) – The Emmy-winning program looks at the seasons and how they start great migrations, including the African elephant.
8:00 – Planet Earth – Ice Worlds (Animal Planet) – Narrator Sigourney Weaver takes us on a journey including both poles and the tops of mountains to look at the organisms that can survive Earth’s coldest climates.
8:00 – Nature – Is That Skunk? (PBS) – Why are skunks so stinky? Discover the inner workings of their odorous defense system, as well as how they eat, mate, and raise their families. I’m kind of glad Smell-o-vision isn’t here yet.
9:00 – Planet Earth – Deserts (Animal Planet) – Wildlife in the Sahara, Gobi, and other deserts adapt to the extreme conditions.
10:00 – Planet Earth – Deep Ocean (Animal Planet) – The wild creatures in the depths of the ocean never cease to amaze me. Dive into their world in this episode of the amazingly-filmed series.

7:00 – Polar Bears Uncovered (Animal Planet) – Discover the life of a polar bear from a cub’s-eye view.
Tuesday, March 2 -
5:00 – An Extremely Goofy Movie (Disney XD) – If you haven’t watched Goofy deal with his son going off to college, you need to see this movie. It’s fun, and come on – it’s Goofy! Do you really need a reason to watch?
6:00 – Seven Brides for Seven Brothers (Turner Classic Movies) (video at top) – Okay, I may be showy my geeky drama kid side here, but this is one of the funnest musicals of all time. Everyone should see it at least once. Then you can declare me the Queen of Geeks.

5:00 – Most Extreme – Dads (Animal Planet) – Check out some of nature’s coolest dads, including lions and marsupial mice.
Thursday, March 4 -
5:00 – Most Extreme – Daredevils (Animal Planet) – Pelicans are beetles are real daredevils. Don’t believe me? Check out the other 8 wildest animals out there.
7:00 – Modern Marvels – Ice Cream (History Channel) – Bust out the snow ice cream you made the other day while you learn about the history of the yummy treat and visit Dreyer’s TCBY, the Joy Cone Company, and Ben & Jerry’s.
8:00 – Planet Earth – Shallow Seas (Animal Planet) – Discover the coral reefs in the shallow areas above continental shelves.
9:00 – Planet Earth – Great Plains (Animal Planet) – The plains are anything but plain as Planet Earth explores Mongolia, Africa, Papua New Guinea, and the Arctic tundra.
Friday, March 5 -
5:00 – Most Extreme – Defenders (Animal Planet) – Superman turtles that can hold 200 times their weight, glue-secreting frogs, and blood-shooting lizards are among nature’s most amazing defenders.
7:00 – Eddie’s Million Dollar Cook-Off (Disney XD) – A baseball star discovers he’s a great cook, but gets foul treatment from his team and coach (who is his dad). A secret life ensues as Eddie works on a recipe for a culinary contest behind everyone’s back.

7:00 – Dogs 101 (Animal Planet) – Is a bloodhound the best family dog, or the Yorkshire terrier? The Great Dane, Shih Tzu, and Rhodesian Ridgeback breeds are discussed as well.
