Almost a quarter of a million more sets of blinds and roll-up shades are being recalled because the cords may pose as a strangulation risk to young children. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, along with Lutron Electronics and Meijer, have issued this recall even though there are no known reports of injuries. There is still the possibility that a child may get the cord wrapped around their neck and choke. There is also the risk that the strings holding the shades together could get wrapped around a child’s neck.
The new additions to the recall are the following items:
- 240,000 “Innovations” and “At Home with Meijer” Roman Shades and Roll-Up Blinds - Shades are made with fabric or bamboo and the Roll-up blinds with bamboo. A label reading “Innovation” or “At Home with Meijer” can be found under the head-rail. For more information visit Meijer or call 800-927-8699
- 5,000 Lutron Shading Solutions Roman Shades – Motorized and manual Lutron Shading Solutions Roman shades. The shades were sold in a variety of colors, fabrics, and sizes.
