Octomom Nadya Suleman May Lose Home to Foreclosure

By Bridget Tyler on March 22nd, 2010

Nadya Suleman, the infamous mother of 14, including the octuplets whose birth last year caught the national spotlight and earned Suleman the title “Octomom,” may join the swelling ranks of Americans who have lost their home to foreclosure. Amer Haddadin, who holds the mortgage on the families $565,000 La Habra, California home, says that he is moving to foreclosure proceedings because the family is not keeping up with their payments.

Haddadin signed the home over to Suleman’s father last year.  Ed Suleman was supposed to pay $4,000 a month and a final balloon payment of $450,000 that was due earlier in March.  However, the family has been late on recent payments and the balloon payment has not been paid.  Suleman has until end of business on Tuesday, March 22nd to pay the $450,000 or she’ll face a foreclosure lawsuit.

All 14 of Suleman’s children have been the product of artificial insemination.  She conceived the last batch while unemployed and living with her parents and her first six children.  She reportedly used money paid out for disability claims for three of her older children for the in-vitro treatments.  Her doctor, Michael Kamrava has been accused of neglect by the Medical Board of California for implanting excessive numbers of embryos on multiple occasions, including Suleman’s case.

Suleman signed her brood up for a reality show last year.  She and the children were paid a collective $250,000 for the show, which was produced by England’s Eyeworks, the third largest television producer in the world and is described as being more documentary than reality show.  The show did not play on American television, though several T.V. specials have featured Suleman and the children.

On a recent visit to “The View” Suleman said she might consider having one more child.

By the way, in the article about Octomom losing her home, it says
“Suleman has until end of business on Tuesday, March 22nd to pay the $450,000 or she’ll face a foreclosure lawsuit.” Today is March 22nd and it’s MONDAY!!
