You can practicality hear the Twilight generation (and their mom’s) sighing when Justin Bieber twinkles out from under his head blonde shag and starts to sing. With lyric like “Your world is my world. Your heart is my heart,” it’s not hard to see why Bieber appeals to tween girls, and whatever you think of his music it’s hard not to root for a kid who came from nowhere and is taking the over processed world of tween pop music by storm.
Unlike Disney Channel stars like the Jonas Brothers and Miley Cyrus who launched music careers as auxiliary developments of their successful TV careers, Bieber was a just a kid singing for his mom’s webcam not that long ago. Bieber grew up in Canada. A naturally gifted musician, Bieber taught himself to play the drums, guitar, trumpet and piano. Then, in 2007, his mom started posting clips of Bieber covering songs from artists like Stevie Wonder and Usher on YouTube so that friends and family could see him play. Those clips caught the eye of music executives, including R&B star and producer Usher and Schooter Braun, who scooped Bieber up and put him on the road to stardom.
Bieber’s Internet fans didn’t immediately translate into record sales, but after a little old fashion promotional touring and some careful publicity Bieber’s fan base went from viral to totally overwhelming overnight. Bieber has caused near riots one at least one occasion, and hosted online chats with the star frequently crash host websites.
