Some kids discover their talents at a very early age. In the case of 9 year-old Dalton James, he discovered his love of writing and drawing very early. Born in December of 2000 to Cliff James and Tina James Waddell, Dalton was only 6 he began to write and draw his own stories about him and his Dad. Eventually they got published and Dalton soon had a series of three books. “The Sneakiest Pirates,” “The Heroes of Googley Woogley” and “The Mudhogs” were released and Dalton became a published artist. Besides him being a published author, Dalton is like any other kid.
He plays basketball, baseball and runs five kilometer races when he is not in school (getting in trouble for talking too much). When he grows up he would like to be a fireman, a policeman, a detective, a doctor or a writer; depending on the day you talk to him. He can also add “public speaker” to his list because he gives talks about writing to other local schools. Dalton is currently only in the third grade but has plans to write another three books in his continuing series.
This just goes to show that anyone at any age can be successful. I realize that most will not but that doesn’t mean they shouldn’t try. A finished project is a great feeling of accomplishment for anyone and that feeling is their reward. Hopefully Dalton will be encouraged by his early success and we will see him on the New York Times Bestseller List very soon.
