And just like that the field of 64 teams has been whittled down to the Final Four. There are just three more game in the college basketball season and they will surely be intense. These teams have played so hard for the past couple weeks and now they are so close enough to taste ultimate victory. After one more win they will be at the championship game and playing for the grand prize. Make sure you watch to see what happens.
This week also marks the beginning of the baseball season! Finally, my favorite sport will be back and playing one of the longest seasons in all of sports. Will the New York Yankees be able to stay at the top of the league and be champions again? With all of the off season moves and acquisitions, it will be hard to tell until the very end. But the Great American Past-time is on its way and lazy afternoons in front of the TV or, better yet, at the ballpark are on the horizons. Bring it on.
But for now the focus is on college basketball and the last games of the year. So enjoy it all while it lasts because in less than 10 days it will all be over.
Top 3
1. NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament – No. 2 West Virginia Mountaineers vs. No. 1 Duke Blue Devils – April 3 @ 8:47 p
This is the game to watch because in most instances a number two team going against the number one team would result in an ultimate champion. But this time it will simply decide who will get to play for a championship. Coach Krzyzewski (pronounced “shah-shef-skee” or just Coach K) of Duke is one of the best coaches to ever be involved in basketball on any level. He lead our Olympic team to gold and has kept Duke at the top of the rankings for many, many years. His experience and expertise will have a huge impact on the game and rest assured he will be at the top of his game. But the Mountaineers have already defeated a number one team (Kentucky Wildcats) in the previous round so they have a huge boost of momentum going into the game. Duke has done everything they are supposed to but West Virginia has done the unexpected and beat a top team. Which one will have the chance to prove they they are the true number one?
2. NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament – No. 5 Butler Bulldogs vs. No. 5 Michigan State Spartans – April 3 @ 6:07 p
Butler was able to upset No. 2 Kansas St. Wildcats in the Elite 8 to prove that they belong among the best. Michigan State has overcome injuries but for the most part have been the favorites. The momentum is all on the side of Butler because they have been able to defeat better opponents but Michigan State will come out looking to show that while they may not have as tough of a time, they still belong at the top. To be honest I don’t know a single player on either team but at this point it doesn’t matter because these kids are all playing with heart and the last couple minutes of this game will just prove who has more.
No. 3 MLB – New York Yankees at Boston Red Sox – April 4 @ 8:05 p
Finally the baseball season is upon us and it is kicking off with one of the biggest rivalries in all of sports. The Yankees and the Red Sox have been a rivalry for more than 100 years now and the bad blood between them will probably never go away. The Yankees have most recently been portrayed as the Evil Empire and Boston as the fun-loving bunch of goofy guys but each team takes this game with the utmost seriousness. The Yanks are the defending World Series champions and will be looking to show that nothing has changed. Boston could do a lot for their season with a win against the defending champs on Opening Day. That kind of win can define a season. So let’s kick of this season of baseball with one of the best matches in all of sports. Play ball!
