Wendy Vo is not your typical 11 year -old. By the time she was eight she was already fluent in more than 11 languages and an accomplished composer with a CD produced. At a very early age she showed an interest in music and by the time she was four she was already studying melodies and composing her own stuff. When she was eight she produced a CD with 14 of her compositions on it but she really had composed more than 40 pieces of her own music. Shortly after her notoriety she became the youngest member of the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers. She continues to study music and compose and is considered a prodigy.
While not everyone can be a prodigy, everyone can study and excel at the things they like. You don’t have to be a certain age to be great at anything. Wendy shows us that really at any age the mind can learn complex things and do astonishing things. So next time your kids tell you they just can’t learn something because they are too young, point them in the direction of Wendy and see if they can’t do what this little girl can.
