Supersized Puss in Boots in New Shrek Sequel

By Bridget Tyler on April 23rd, 2010

Puss - ShrekIf you’ve seen the trailers for the latest addition to the Shrek franchise, you’ve probably noticed that Puss in Boots is a bit, well, unrecognizable. The sleek orange marmalade tabby, voice by Antonio Bandaras, seems to have ditched his boots, sword and dashing had for a pink bow and a bowl of cream – a life decision that has also led to him being so rotund that he rolls instead of walking!

What’s happened to the feisty feline?  The plot of the upcoming Shrek sequel seems to be an ogre-ific take on “It’s a Wonderful Life.”  Shrek, frustrated with a life of public attention and responsibility, longs for his days as an anonymous ogre.  His wish for just one day of his old life is unfortunately overheard by the mischievous Rumpelstiltskin.  Anyone who knows their fairy tales can guess that things will go awry from there.  That wish seems to lead to a kingdom of Far Away that has not fallen under Shrek benevolent influence, which apparently also means a rotund Puss in Boots.

Here’s a clip to tide you over until “Shrek Forever After” hits theaters April 21st!  If you’re still jonesing for some animated goodness, check these out.
