Retailers like Walmart, Target and Babies R Us along with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission are recalling all Simplicity full-size cribs with tubular metal mattress-support frames. The mattresses have caused a child to suffocate as well as 13 other reports of the cribs collapsing and causing injury. This includes fixed-side and drop-side cribs. These cribs pose a risk of serious injury or death due to entrapment, strangulation, suffocation and fall hazards to infants and toddlers. The CPSC urges parents and caregivers to stop using these cribs immediately and find an alternative, safe sleeping environment for their baby.
Since Simplicity is no longer in business the CPSC does not have proper information on the actual numbers that were sold. Simplicity cribs were already recalled previously but more injury reports have come in so a new recall is being issued to try and reach people who were unaware. This recall is for ALL Simplicity cribs. The name “Simplicity Inc.” or “Simplicity for Children” appears on a label on the crib’s mattress-support frame and/or the crib’s end panels.
