Miley Cyrus Rocks a $25,000 Silver-scale and Peacock Feather Corset in New Vid!

By Bridget Tyler on May 5th, 2010

Miley CyrusMiley Cyrus, the under age diva of the moment, struts her stuff in a $25,00 corset in the new music video for “Can’t Be Tamed,” her latest single off of an album of the same name.  The sparkling outfit is constructed of 2,400 metal pieces and peacock feathers.  It was designed by The Blondes and debuted in their fall 2010 line.

Those who criticized the young star for being too grown up after a racy dance number at the People’s Choice Awards last year may think this outfit is just too sexy for a 17 year old girl.  While it’s true that this dress, along with several other scanty outfits in the video, shows off quite a lot of skin, it still feels a lot more wholesome than some of the outfits her predecessors have chosen.  Compared to say, Britney Spears’ school girl outfit in “Hit Me Baby One More Time,” this is nothing.

While Spears technically showed less skin, the image of a teenager playing the sexualized little girl is a far more disturbing role model for young female fans.  Cyrus, on the other hand, looks like a fairy princess in her sparkling, feathered get up, entirely suited to a poised young woman with a taste for bright colors and couture.  Like her controversial nude shoot with Annie Liebowitz for Vanity Fair, this dress feels like an entirely age appropriate step towards adulthood, approached in a well balanced and mature way (at least for a pop star).

Cyrus has commissioned another sparkly number from 10 year old designer Cecelia Cassini – described as a “short and fun” sequined tunic with an open back, one wonders what Cyrus’ hyper attentive critics will have to say about it.
