Police in Chicopee, Massachusetts have arrested Matthew Brace, 24, for offering his 3-month-old daughter as trade for beer. In the back of a gas station on the side of a highway, Matthew approached a gas station attendant and offered to exchange the baby for two 40-ounce bottles of beer. After the attendant contacted authorities, police came and found Matthew hiding behind a trash container trying to dispose of the baby’s stroller.
The child has been taken into custody of the state is is currently safe. Matthew was not arrested but he will have to appear in court to answer for charges of reckless endangerment of a child. The child’s mother does not face any charges because she apparently didn’t know what was going on and was in the store purchasing cigarettes.
I don’t even know what to say about this. I don’t think I need to say how horrible it is to try and sell you baby for beer but I think it’s apparent that these people were under the influence of something and need serious help. These “people” shouldn’t be allowed to have this child back, ever. They valued their child’s life at two bottles of beer and you can’t tell me the mother wasn’t involved because there is just no way he could have come up with an excuse as to where the baby up and went to after she went in for a pack of smokes.
“Oh I’m sorry honey, that crazy 3-month-old of ours just up and ran off. But don’t worry I got these two beers here to help the situation.”
This poor baby came into this world with completely unfit parents and now that her parents have shown what they feel about her, hopefully she won’t have to be subjected to them ever again.
