Miley Cyrus joined her co-stars, crew and an array of young Hollywood stars in a casino themed bash to celebrate the end of “Hannah Montana.”
The show that rocketed Miley to the kind of stardom that most adults can only dream of started in 2006 when she was just 13. Since then the show, and its star, have become so omnipresent in the kid driven media space that it’s hard to believe they’ve only been around for 4 years.
While some have criticized Cyrus’ push to separate herself from “Hannah” and been seen as a grown up as too much, too soon, it seems likely that ending her mega popular show while it’s still at the top of it’s game is a good move for the kid star. By stepping away from the TV alter ego that launched her career, Cyrus has given herself room to grow. It might make her young fans sad for a while, but she seems sure to come back with new shows and movies that will keep those dying for a “Hannah” fix happy.
Cyrus has certainly had her share of tabloid gossip, and some worry that Cyrus’ new work, particularly her recent music video for “Can’t Be Tamed,” which has been criticized for being risqué, is too grown up for her young audience. Generally, however, she seems to be managing the tricky business of growing up in the spotlight quite well. The wrap party for “Hannah Montana,” which featured sushi, french fries, ginger-lemon iced tea and a lot of singing and dancing fun, seems to have been the pitch perfect celebration of a 17 year old moving on to bigger and better things.
We’ll miss you Hannah, but we’re ready to see what Miley does next!
