Too much of anything is never a good thing. Especially if that thing is Kate Gosselin. The newly single mother of the most famous eight children on television is milking her last 15 minutes of fame for everything it’s worth. After her stint on ‘Dancing With the Stars’ a new show, ‘Kate Plus 8,’ is not getting glowing reviews and she is looking for another outlet for her to stay relevant.
This time she is trying to shop around the idea of her being on a dating type reality show or even the next Bachelorette. So instead of pimping out her children she is going to pimping out herself. This from the woman who says everything she does is for the benefit of her kids. Yeah, that’s exactly what parading yourself on television trying to choose a father figure for your children will do, benefit your children. We all know that reality television couples always last forever and the people that star on these shows are always the most stable of Americans. She needs to stop kidding herself and realize that she is only doing this for the benefit of her ego. She got a taste of fame and doesn’t want to let go.
I would be willing to place a large wager that in her new show Kate will speak these phrases often and loudly:
- “I’m doing this for my kids.”
- “They need a good male role model in their life.”
- “I do everything for my kids.”
These are her catch phrases and while they may have held some merit at first now they are just old and clichéd coming from her mouth. They are just her justification to herself that she’s not being selfish. Trying to find a suitable father figure for her children is a good goal but I guarantee that that person will not be found on a reality dating show.
I’ll admit I loved the original ‘Jon and Kate Plus 8′ episodes and had to try and make sure my friends didn’t see the saved episodes on my DVR. I loved getting a peak into this extraordinary family’s life and seeing how that dealt with the same situations we all deal with just on a different scale. Then it was just an extra large family with an easy-going father putting up with an extremely bitchy and anal retentive mother. That was their charm and it struck a chord with millions of Americans. But then you would start to notice more and more the product placements and the special treatment they would get at places. They started to realize their popularity and reveled in it.
I won’t go into what has happened over the past year but needless to say, it has been splashed across headlines and newscasts. Jon and Kate have gone their separate ways and through a bitter divorce where each claimed the other was using the children for profit. They were both right. Kate is just taking one step closer towards completely warping her children’s minds. Reality television is not real and the children need to get away from the cameras, both on the show and in the hands of the paparazzi. Kate needs to get out before we end up with eight permanently scared children.
