Amanda Bynes Retires from Acting at 24

By Bridget Tyler on June 21st, 2010

Amanda Bynes is retiring, or at least, that’s what she tells Twitter.

“Being an actress isn’t as fun as it may seem,” she informed her Tweet followers from her verified account. “If I don’t love something anymore I stop doing it. I don’t love acting anymore so I’ve stopped doing it.”

Twenty-four is awfully young to retire, and the comedienne knows it. “I know 24 is a young age to retire but you heard it here first,” she tweeted. “I’ve #retired.”

If she’s retiring young, you have to admit - Bynes started young too.  The actress started out her professional life before most kids start high school with a star making turn on Nickelodeon’s sketch show, “All That.”  Then she parlayed her success into her own TV show – “The Amanda Show.”  Bynes went on to star in another long running successful series, “What I Like About You,” with Jenny Garth.  She has also stared in several successful movies including “What a Girl Wants” and “Hairspray.”  Her latest outing, which looks to be her last, is the upcoming “Easy A.”

Will Bynes ever return to the big or small screen?  Many child actors take time off from their careers at some point, so perhaps her fans can hope for a come back someday.  With multiple starring roles in TV shows that are still heavily syndicated Bynes certainly doesn’t need to work, but, whether it’s acting or not, we hope that she’ll find something to do with the rest of her life that she loves.
