Pixar has another hit on their hands – and it’s their biggest one yet! Toy Story 3 earned $109 million at the box office last weekend, making it the highest grossing launch so far for the studio.
The long-awaited follow up to the popular Toy Story series begins with Andy going away to college and Buzz and the gang being sent to a day-care centre. The day care is run by a strawberry-scented evil bear and the toys pledge to escape together.
The bear is the leader of his own group of left behind toys, including a terrifying zombie-like baby doll and a hysterically vain Ken Doll, voiced by Michael Keaton.
The day-care centre also brings a couple of hilarious new toys for Woody to befriend. Mr. Pricklepants – a hedgehog who hosts pretend tea parties (Timothy Dalton) and a Unicorn named Buttercup (Jeff Garlin) quickly find themselves a part of Woody’s team.
Tears and laughter follow as the toys struggle with issues of abandonment that inevitably give way to loss and acceptance. Sit back, relax and enjoy the ride – Toy Story 3 is a movie for both adults and the elementary school set.
