Daniel Radcliffe is Going to Miss “Harry Potter,” But He’s Ready For The Future

By Bridget Tyler on June 22nd, 2010

We first met Daniel Radcliffe when he was just a sprightly little boy – an enthusiastic kid actor who no one, including the producers of the mega-successful “Harry Potter” movies, knew would come to so thoroughly inhabit the skin of the world’s favorite wizard.  He was just 9 when he first became Harry, and now, at 19, he’s feeling a little dazed at the idea that his journey is almost over.

“It’s been kind of wild. It’s just been the most amazing sort of 10 years,” Radcliffe told The Today Show’s Scoop and the premiere of the new Wizarding World of Harry Potter. “The things I’ll remember is being on the set and filming and doing the work that I just love. It’s kind of what it’s always mainly been about. And I’ve always felt very, very lucky to have fallen into — almost by accident — a job that I absolutely love.”

The final scenes of the 11th film – part two of “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows” – were shot last week.  Radcliffe surprised himself by “weeping like a baby” when the shoot wrapped. “I … we … were very emotional. I’m not a particularly overly emotional kind of person. And so, I didn’t really expect it to be … to cry … as much as I did. But I was absolutely devastated at the moment, because I just thought, ‘Well, what am I gonna do now?’ You know? I don’t know what my day-to-day life is without Harry Potter,” Radcliffe told Today. “I’ve got to sort of find that out.”

Radcliffe’s future doesn’t seem all that uncertain, however.  He’s already had success on the stage, and he’s going back early next year with a turn in “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying” on Broadway.
