Angelina Jolie’s Interview in August’s Vanity Fair

By Bridget Tyler on June 30th, 2010

Angelina Jolie, everyone’s favorite celebrity mom to love/hate, clears up a lot of rumors in her interview with Vanity Fair, which is featured in their August edition.  First of all, she’s not pregnant:

“We’re not opposed to it. But we want to make sure we can give everybody special time,” says Jolie, adding, “They’re kids now, and can play together, but they’re going to need a lot more talking in the middle of the night, like I did with my mom for hours. We want to make sure we don’t build a family so big that we don’t have absolutely enough time to raise them each really well.”

Much like the interviews she gave when Maddox was an only child, and she was a single mom, this piece makes her joy in her children, and their individual personalities, quite clear.

“Mad’s a real intellectual, which I can take no credit for genetically. He’s great at school, great at history. He feels like he could be a writer or travel the world and learn about places and things.” Meanwhile, she point out that her daughter Zahara’s “got an extraordinary voice and is just so elegant and well spoken.”

And Shiloh? Shiloh is  ”hysterically funny, one of the goofiest, most playful people you’ll ever meet.” Angelina says she sees more of herself in Shiloh than she does in any of the others.  ”I used to get dressed up in costumes and jump around. But at some point, I got closed off, darker. I don’t remember anything happening. I think you just get hit with the realities of certain things in life, think too much, start to realize the world isn’t as you wished it would be, so you deepen. Then, as I had kids and got older — being goofy, lighter — it all came back.”

And the twins, Viv and Knox?  They’ll turn 2 next month and “are classic boy and girl.  She’s really female.  And he’s really a little dude.”

Despite countless rumors to the contrary, she also maintains that her relationship with Brad is entirely solid.  As for marriage, she says that she and Brad aren’t against it, they just don’t feel a rush because they feel like, “we already are. Children are clearly a commitment, a bigger commitment [than marriage]. It’s for life.”
