Gisele Bundchen is known for her gorgeous figure, but things are getting ugly after the super model recently made comments about breastfeeding.
Landing a spot on the cover of Harper’s Bazaar UK just 8 months after giving birth to her son, Benjamin, Gisele opens up about being a Mom. She’s quoted advocating a law which would require all mothers to breast feed their children.
“Some people [in the U.S.] think they won’t have to breastfeed, and I think, ‘Are you going to give chemical food to your child, when they are so little?” Bundchen said. “There should be a worldwide law, in my opinion, that mothers should breastfeed their babies for 6 months.”
As soon as Gisele’s statements were released, the model-mom was immediately criticized for failing to consider women who are unable to breastfeed for a variety of reasons.
Mrs. Tom Brady quickly took to her blog to try and clear up her comments, with her rep insisting that her remarks were “taken out of context” in the interview.
“My intention in making a comment about the importance of breastfeeding has nothing to do with the law. It comes from my passion and beliefs about children,” the she wrote on her blog. “I understand that everyone has their own experience and opinions and I am not here to judge. I believe that bringing a life into this world is the single most important thing a person can undertake and it can also be the most challenging. I think as mothers we are all just trying our best.”
Translation: Don’t expect to see Gisele marching to Washington in an attempt to legislate mandatory breastfeeding anytime soon.
