To celebrate Dora the Explorer’s 10th Anniversary, more than 30 cities across the United States are proclaiming tomorrow (Saturday) Dora the Explorer Day!

Earlier this year, Nickelodeon marked the special milestone for the popular children’s television show with a multi-platform pro-social campaign called, “Beyond the Backpack.” Named after Dora’s iconic backpack, the program champions overall school readiness for preschoolers as they prepare for the adventure of beginning school.
Celebrities including Salma Hayek, Jessica Alba, Drew Brees, Shakira, and Slash have each designed their own special Dora-inspired bag that will be auctioned off around the world on Charity Buzz. The proceeds from the sales will benefit school readiness programs. The auction is already underway and will continue until September 2, 2010.
Dora fans should set their DVRs for the premier of “Dora’s Big Birthday Adventure,” an hour long movie which follows Dora and Boots on an adventure though Magic Storybook Land. Rosie Perez, John Leguizamo and Hector Elizondo guest star in the primetime TV film.
