Jennifer Garner: Healthy Habits Will Rub Off On Kids

By Heather B on August 23rd, 2010

Jennifer Garner and FamilyActress Jennifer Garner has a reputation for being a hands-on Mom to daughters Violet and Seraphina.  She recently sat down for an interview with iVilliage.com (via PEOPLE) and dished on raising healthy children, which according to Jennifer, means leading by example.

“I think if your kids see you exercising they’ll grow up exercising,” the movie-star Mom said.  “They’ll assume that it’s always a part of life; if they think it feels good to move your body, they’ll want to do it as they get older.”

In fact, most mornings Jennifer makes it back home from her workout just in time for breakfast.  When her kids ask, “Where were you?” she tells them that she was just “working out” and that it’s important to her to stay healthy.

Jennifer will also try anything to get her kids eating healthy foods.  “My big thing with vegetables lately is, ‘How many colors are you going to eat tonight?’” she shares, encouraging her kids to eat many different types (and colors!) of vegetables.

Of course, she admits that timing is everything.  She says she will put out the veggies when everyone is hungry – usually while she’s cooking and trying to ensure dinner will be ready.

“My girls will eat red and yellow peppers,” Jennifer says, “I’ll put all of that out and see what I can get down them.”
