When most teens decide they want to get some space from their families they go to college in another city, go on a road trip or just pitch a fit until their parents let them move into the room above the garage. If those teens were red hot celebrities with a fairly unlimited budget, you’d imagine that expensive apartments, blow out parties and trips to exotic destinations would be involved. Not if they’re Demi Lovato.
Lovato just turned eighteen. She celebrated by buying her family a birthday present – a new house, with a guest cottage in the back for their super star daughter. The new, Mediterranean style home is just outside of Los Angeles and boasts a pool with a water slide.
“I just bought a house,” Lovato told People Magazine. “For me to give [that] to my family on my birthday, that was the best present.”
“It’s got pretty much everything you could possibly imagine in it,” she gushed to People. “It’s the most beautiful, homey-feeling house. I love it.”
Lovato is one of the current crop of Disney Channel kid stars – best known for her role as Sonny in “Sonny with a Chance” and for playing Mitchie Torres in “Camp Rock and the upcoming “Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam.” She celebrated her 18th in New York with friends, including the Jonas Brothers and with her little sister Madison de la Garza. Her thoughts on being 18? According to her Twitter feed, the only word to describe it is, “weird.”
