Over the past nine month, millions of people all over the world have been captivated by the news of Tiger Woods’ infidelities. From the 15+ mistresses to baby scandals and alleged drugs, there wasn’t any topic that was off limits when it came to the biggest sex scandal of the decade. While the whole world watched in amusement, Tiger’s now ex-wife Elin Woods was trying desperately to salvage the family she once treasured.
In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE magazine, Elin opens up about the turmoil she felt after she found out her husband was a self-proclaimed sex addict.
“I’m so embarrassed that I never suspected – not a one. For the past 3 1/2 years, when all this was going on, I was home a lot more with pregnancies, then the children and my school.”
The mom-of-two insists that her top priority has always been (and will continue to be) her children:
“My immediate plan is for the kids and me to continue to adjust to our new situation. I am going to keep taking classes, but my main focus is to try to give myself time to heal,” she says.
Elin doesn’t address whether or not she and Tiger plan to co-parent the kids or whether she’ll obtain full custody of Sam, 3, and Charlie, 19 months. She does, however, reveal that she and Tiger tried to work on their marriage after the news was released but “without trust and love” the marriage was unsalvageable.
So how much did Elin score in the settlement? That we’ll never know as she plans to keep the amount a secret. What she will tell us is that “money can’t buy happiness or put my family back together.”
We hope Elin finds happiness and that she and Tiger can find some way to co-parent successfully. Those kids are lucky to have a mom like her!
