Taylor Swift Donates Money to Build New Playground

Every kid deserves a good neighborhood playground.  Luckily, the children of Hendersonville, Tennessee, have a benefactor in Taylor Swift.  Swift gave $100,000 dollars to city officials to help locals, who have been suffering after massive floods this summer.  At her business manager’s suggestion, the funds have been earmarked to retrofit the Kid’s Kingdom play area, as well as the city’s volleyball courts.

Hendersonville spokesman Dave LeMarbre says, “We appreciate Taylor’s donation as well as all the others who have stepped up.”

Swift has been laser focused on her career since age 11, when she took a trip to Nashville and dropper off her homemade demo tape at every record label in town, leaving a town full of highly amused receptionists.  That focus paid off, by 14 she was signed as a professional staff songwriter at Sony/ATV Publishing.  She’d signed her first record deal before she could drive and by 17 she was the youngest person to write and perform a #1 country song.  Her first album went multi-platinum and her star has been on the rise ever since.

That doesn’t mean, however, that she’s forgotten how important it is to be a kid – and that means having a good and safe place to play.  If you would like to help the people of Tennessee, The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee’s website has links to several different funds that are accepting donations.

I hope that Taylor Swift will continue to be the sweetheart that she is without succumbing to the latest trend with girls to be (for lack of a better word) sleazy. We need AT LEAST ONE good role models for young girls to look up to. Thanks Taylor!!!
