It’s September 22nd and the seasons have officially changed for North America. Now that autumn has fallen upon us, it’s time to put away the remnants of summer wardrobes and look ahead to the colors, the bounty and the traditions of the harvest season.
School is in full swing, but there’s still a good chunk of the day left when the kids get home. And with the sun tumbling over the horizon so much earlier these days, it may be time to find some indoor activities to keep the little ones busy in the evenings. A crafty project to adorn the house can be a great way to spruce up your fall décor and will keep the kids having fun. Make a scarecrow out of a paper bag, an old outfit and a straw hat, and get him outside in time for Halloween. Or, head down to a farmers market, pick up a bag of crisp apples and welcome the season by baking a homemade pie with the kids.
While it may be a little early to carve your pumpkin, a visit to the pumpkin patch is a great idea nonetheless. Look for kid-friendly farms in your area that offer hayrides, corn mazes and fresh baked goodies alongside their fields of pumpkins. It’s still the start of the season, so it won’t be too chilly and you can get some fantastic photos as the emerging shades of yellow and orange pop out against green leaves and lush landscapes. Enjoy the best of the season and take advantage of the fun and family that comes with celebrating fall traditions.
