More than 23,000 pieces of children’s jewelry is being recalled because they contain unhealthy levels of lead. The “Love Tester” line of mood rings and necklaces distributed by D&D Distributing Wholesale were sold in small boutique stores as well as some small retail stores nationwide from September 2005 until June 2010 for around $4. About 19,000 rings and 4,000 necklaces were sold and as of yet no incidents of injury have been reported.
The products were sold individually and change colors when the user’s “mood” changes. The necklace is 18 inches in length and the ring is adjustable. ”Love Tester” and “Are You In the Mood” are labeled on the products’ packaging. Consumers should immediately take the recalled jewelry away from children and return to the store where purchased to receive a full refund or replacement product.
