Similac Recall 2010: Product Numbers and Contact Information

By AAyles on September 23rd, 2010

Similac Formula Recall 2010 – Abbott laboratories announced today that they are recalling 5 million cans of specific Similac brand powdered infant formula.

The specific products are 8-ounce, 12.4-ounce and 12.9 ounce cans of Similac powder that have lot numbers 87932T20, 88117T26, 78208T2,88136T20,91433t20,66128RB6,61251 RB6,61347RB,84314 RB,85454 T2,86580 T20,88137T20 and 90372T20.

Parents should be concerned due to the fact that the voluntary recall is taking place because the company believes the products may contain beetles.

Melissa Brotz, a spokeswoman from Abbott said in a statement that small insects were found in the cans of milk produced at a Sturgis, Michigan manufacturing facility.

The company has stopped all production in the facility.

Concerned parents can contact representatives through their website (www.similac.com/recall10) or Abbott’s consumer hotline at (800).986.8850.

Update: Some commenters have said that this is not the full list of lot numbers. I have been trying to find the additional numbers but cannot get into the website. You can try checking on your own, eventually all of the lot numbers will be listed here http://similac.com/recall/lookup.aspx. I will keep looking. If I find them, I will post them here.

Update 2: Here are some additional lot numbers I found from commenters on other forums who have gotten throught the website or the hotline. Please do not quote me on these but if you use the products with these lot numbers, you should be concerned enough to call: 85260T2, 87829T20, 84262T2, 79496T2, 88113T20 and 1.45lb tubs with product numbers 88137T20, 89246T21, 90374T20, 90398T20.

  • christina

i bought my son two months supply of formula what do i do with the recall cans who is going to pay for my sons bad formula that he cant eat

  • AAyles

Christina, If I were you, I would call the hotline # right away. They may be doing returns/exchanges at the location that you bought the formula. Many company’s do this with recalls but you’ll have to speak to someone personally. I’m sure the phone lines are busy but I’d definitely be calling the hotline if I were you.

  • Maryellen

If you breastfeed your babies you’ll never have to worry about a formula recall.

  • crystal

i have the same problem, i just bought my son formula yesterday….. idk what the lot number is on it either

  • Mel
  • crystal

and what happens to those people who dont exactly have a choice to breastfeed or not? you should really think before you write stuff like that maryellen

  • Mel

lot # is the number printed on the metal on the bottom of the can, should be on there twice

  • Rebecca

Not everyone is able to breastfeed some women are unable to produce period. YOu really should get educated on the subject. This is for those whom do formula feed not for people like you who are Debbie Downers to start shit !

  • RK

I tried calling their hotline and it is busy continuously. I have been tried to check on their website since last night and so far no luck, their website is so slow, I’m sure lot of parents are connecting to check the recal details.

  • Melissa

Maryellen…some women can’t breastfeed and their babies would STARVE without formula. Have some compassion. When you see a child drinking formula there just may be a mother heartbroken about it.

  • Crystal r

The numbers are on the bottom of the can and if. Your can has any of them numbers then take it back or call them…I just got one last night but mines don’t match any of them!!

  • Angela

i just heard about this recall and i have 5 cans of defective formula. i am also on the wic program because i cannnot afford similac or their f*ck ups. i need some answers as to what im supposed to be feeding my child now?

  • Bonnie

  • Ana

I brestfeed my baby girl but For the rice cereal i mix formula milk…but now i will think mixing breast milk is good idea.

  • APRIL

@MARYELLEN THATS GREAT IF YOU CAN BUT EVERYONE CAN’T BREASTFEED THEIR BABIES.

  • Jennie

Not everyone can breastfeed, so some people should keep their comments to themselves. I breastfed till my daughter was3weeks, then I stopped producing milk. It’s was hard enough on me to deal with having to switch to formula, so how dare you people make comments like that!

  • Cassandra

Maryellen my son was in ICU and could not be breastfed. I tried. So you need to keep your nasty comments to yourself!

  • JennyO

In response to the comment made by Maryellen…..wtf is your problem? Why would you even post something like that. NOT all women can breastfeed and formula is the only way to feed our babies. I tried with both my children and was unable to, it was not my choice! You owe everyone on here an apology!

  • Grace

The website crashed last night due to so many people trying to get on at once. I had a busy signal for 2 hours last night and finally got through. My daughters lot number was one that was being recalled. She goes through one a week from Bj’s so I’m wondering about all the others she has gone trough in the past weeks if they ere part of it too. Anyway when I called he said I could return it to Bj’s and would get my full refund even if it was almost gone or empty. The liquid formula is not on recall so we will be using that until this is clear. I called my daughter’s dr. to see if I should switch formulas and they said they highly recommend Similac and this would all be over in a week or so. Also to the lady saying to breastfeed- you really should have a little compassion to mothers who can not breastfeed. I breastfed my daughter for 4 months and then I could not produce anymore. I was heartbroken. The formula is working just fine so please think about things before you speak. Good luck to everyone finding out about their cans of formula.

  • JesikaBoling

Maryellen, there are some people that cannot breastfeed. Don’t judge people because of the choice they made. Its not your child so dont worry about why they feed them formula. I for one cannot breastfeed my son, Im a healthy 22 year old woman. My milk just never came in. So thanks for the insult.

  • http://www.kidglue.com jj

we buy 32 oz. Similac Soy powder. I can’t get through on web or hotline. anyone know about those?

  • da moma jones

Maryellen you are one of the lucky moms that was able to breastfeed your child, thats great!! But keep your rude and inappropriate comments to yourself about momas that can’t or don’t breastfeed!!

  • HeatherKumor

Maryellen, you can kiss my ass.

  • Ines

MARYELLEN; what an ignorant thing to say especially since you don’t know everyones or anyones reasons for bottle feeding their babies. Do us all a favor and keep your negative comments to yourself.

  • Amanda

Maryellen ~ I would LOVE to have breastfed my daughter! Unfortunately even after months of trying to induce lactation before she was born (we adopted her at birth) I could get no more than a drop of milk to come in. I was HEARTBROKEN by this and comments like the one you made only bring back the pain. I had no other choice but to use formula. Please think before you speak.

  • Stephanie

Here is their link to replacement products. You can purchase the liquid/premade formula.
    http://abbott.vo.llnwd.net/o18/similac/sms/pdf/SimilacProductSubstitution.pdf

  • Katie

FYI this is not all of the lot numbers. I went to the Similac website and plugged the number on the bottom of my containers and it said Recalled. Also just bring them back to where you bought them. I buy mine at Sam’s and they said to bring them back for a full refund.

Also on the breastfeeding comment…don’t be ignornant most women try breastfeeding and for some reason or another it doesn’t work out. I was one. I desperately tried with bleeding nipples & clogged milk ducts and after crying everytime I tried to feed my baby I finally realized I just couldn’t do it. Somethings are out of our control.

  • Jessi

Maryellen- I had my youngest 12 years after a breast reduction. He was 6 weeks early and was in NICU for two weeks. I pumped and bottled what I could get but he lost too much weight and had to be put on a higher calorie formula. And even 1 month out after pumping every 3 hours, I was still getting only 35ml of breastmilk per pumping! I was absolutely heartbroken, especially since I work in postpartum and help new moms learn to breastfeed their babies! Not everyone is able to breast feed their baby and formula is the only option. Maybe you should have to live in someone else’s shoes before opening your big mouth and making nasty comments!

  • Giorgia Stevenson

I use the Similac Sensitive Isomil Soy the 2.12LB are I cannot get anyone to answer anyone know about this?????
    PLEASE.

  • moopsmomma

Maryellen- I am sure you are the “perfect” mother but– yes some of us couldn’t breast feed!! I would be one of those mothers– and My babies are JUST FINE! I was so heart broken that I couldnt breast feed either of my babies.. Seriously- you should think before writing something so stupid.

  • Ana

Yes Bonnie is right.. This is not a complete list.Go to Abbott Lab site..

  • Mary

t’s sad to know that there are people out there that feel the need to put others down because of how they raised their children! I was unable to breastfeed when my daughter was born because I was diagnosed with PRES a week after she was born. I lost my sight and almost died due to high blood pressure! There is always a reason behind why people choose to do what they do and you should really keep your mouth shut if it doesn’t involve you! I would have rather breastfed since I know that is the best thing for them, but in my case I am just happy to be here and see her grow up!!

  • Ashley

Maryellen ur an idiot not everyone can breastfeed!!! I had a preemie that could latch due to her being so small and my inverted nipples. I also almost died due to complications from a c-section. I had mass loss of fluids, dehydratioon high fever and delerium. I pumped until my body literally used the milk to survive! So grow a brain and realize some people don’t have a choice in the matter!

  • Mason~N~Maxs Mommy

I agree with everyone saying that maryellen should have thought before she blurted a very rude comment out. I was very fortunate to have been able to breastfeed both of my boys. Although I only did each for 6 months. A personal choice between my husband and myself, but there are some moms that dont have the choice and just simply cant. I have a lot of compassion for the moms that can not, but the ones like maryellen who are so damn close minded and dont think that their rude ass comments may hurt feelings, next time think before you speak!!!

  • Shannon

Maryellen you really should use your brain before you open your judgemental mouth. I tried relentlessly for 2 months to breastfeed my son even renting an expensive pump from the hospital and taking an herbal supplement that was recommended and could not produce any milk. I was devastated and cried everyday for weeks because I was not able to provide my baby with the nourishment he needed. So keep your nasty unwanted remarks to yourself and just thank God that your body was blessed with the ability to produce milk for your child.

To all other parents, good luck on finding out if your baby’s formula is affected. My baby has been spitting up quite a bit for a week which is very unusual for him and it turns out his formula was on the recall list. So good luck to others.

  • JennyO

Just got through to with the phone number (1-800-986-8850) and was informed all the large tubs are being recalled and that some of the cans as well. Thankfully I had a couple cans that are safe but the rest will be sent back. They do issue a full retail refund for the formula no matter where you bought it from. Also all the liquid/ready to feed formula is safe. I was told that it could be 2-4 weeks before powder is safe again and if you have any questions about if your formula is safe to call their number that I listed above. Hope this helps other moms out there! Good luck getting through. We use Similac Senisitive but I know that it does affect other Similac brands as well.

  • Lacey

Maryellen I also tried breastfeeding both of my children as I was, my milk wasn’t enough so I had to supliment with formula, eventually my milk just stopped coming in all together. So before you wright something as ignorant as you did, you should think of all the different situations and how your comment might effect other people. I would have loved to continue breastfeeding and was VERY upset when it stopped coming in, next time just don’t say anything at all. NOW ARE THESE JUST THE “CANS” BEING RECALLED?

  • anon

I love, and by love I mean hate….that a forum that has been created for information regarding a recall has some how turned into a controversy over breastfeeding vs. formula feeding. Why is it that some breastfeeding mother’s think they are better then everybody else, and are the first to open their mouths and be judgemental. I for one am in the same boat and many of these moms and had health issues with my delivery and in the end wasn’t able to breastfeeed, but not by choice. People need to think before they speak. As much as I think breastfeeding is important, I also believe a mother has the choice for what they feel is best for their child and them, that might mean bottle feeding….but that is their choice!

  • AAyles

Lacey, I just added some of the tub product lot numbers that I found on another site. Don’t quote me on those but the woman said she got through and the 1.45lb tubs that are being recalled can be found in the second update in the article. Hope it helps. I’m trying to find out as much as I can but it’s hard with the Similac website down and the hotlines busy. I also just added additional numbers to try calling. Can’t hurt to try.

  • Lena

    Here’s the ones I have
    87932t20, 88117t26, 78208t2, 091433t20, 800-986-8850, 800-545-5216
    800-515-7677, 800-986-8800, 847-937-6100, 847-935-8865, 847-935-3456, 66128rb6, 61251rb6, 61347rb, 84314rb, 85454t2, 86580t20, and 90372t20… not sure if this is all of them but hope it helps.

  • Sarah Mallery

I am the mother of four children. My first two children I was able to breastfeed. In fact my middle child breastfeed until she was 2 1/2. My twins are allergic to breast milk, so MARYELLEN watch what you say! This is stressful enough without high and mighty comments like yours!!!

  • Angela

Its amzing how she has so much to say in the begining, but when poeple are calling her out she won’t say anything. I too was a mother who stopped producing milk at 4 weeks, and my daughter wasn’t getting enough! I tried a lactation consultant and all the same things that these other moms tried. I hope all you mothers who are like get your answers for this crisis, but i am switching to the Premade stuff until the recall is over!

  • TB

Lot number 91487T20 is recalled if anyone has it.

  • Kate

My husband managed to get on their website, i couldn’t 90338T20, 91479T20, Sensitive 2.12lb were also recalled were purchased in Northern VA. I know they are saying it will over in a week or so but for this worry wart mom I am switching to another brand.

MARYELLEN: YOU ARE ENTIRELY TOO IGNORANT! WHY DONT U KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT!! WHO SAYS THAT IF THESE MOTHERS HAD THE CHOICE TO BREASTFEED THEY WOULDNT? NO ONE RIGHT?? AND EVEN IF THEY DID IT IS THEIR CHOICE. SOME OF US WOULD LOVE TO. I DID FOR TWO MONTHS THEN HAD TO GET SURGERY. U DONT KNOW ANYONES SITUATION. SO Y MAKE A COMMENT LIKE THAT?? NO ONE HAD THEIR NOSE IN YOUR BUSINESS WHEN U DECIDED YOU WOULD BE A MOM THATS BREASTFEEDS DID THEY? NOPE! I DONT BELIEVE SO……SO KEEP YOUR NOSE OUT OF EVERYONE ELSES BUSINESS. THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE A DISCUSSION ABOUT FIXING THE MATTER AT HAND (RECALLED FORMULA) FOR THOSE WHO DONT BREASTFEED. JUST IN CASE U DIDNT KNOW! ITS NOT A DISCUSSION ON WHO IS BREASTFEEDING AND WHO’S NOT! WE ARE OBVIOUSLY ALL ON THE SAME SIGHT POSTING COMMENTS AS CONCERNED PARENTS! LETS CONCENTRATE ON THE CHILDREN THIS EFFECTS RATHER THAN TALKIN ABOUT U BREASTFEEDING. AS A MATTER OF FACT IF YOU ARE BREASTFEEDING ONLY, THEN WHY ARE U EVEN ON THIS PAGE MAKING YOUR RUDE COMMENTS?? U SHOULD BE OFF SOMEWHERE BREASTFEEDING RIGHT CUZ THIS DOESNT CONCERN U! BUT ANYWAYS ON A BETTER NOTE: I AM HAPPY I FOUND OUT ABOUT THIS CUZ I JUST GOT LOTS OF NEW FORMULA YESTERDAY! MY QUESTION IS, HOW DO U GET REIMBURSED 4 WHAT YOU BOUGHT??

  • briona

oh! & one more thing! i reqlly like what some of you ladies have to say! im reading over all of these comments and honestly i think that MARYELLEN needed to here our comments opposed to hers. u ladies made some really good points! ignorance isnt always bliss. is it maryellen??

  • Ashley

Lot# 90399T20 Similac Advanced has been recalled as well. I was told that you will be refunded for the formula that you have bought and has been recalled. So, no worries to the mommies like me who have stocked up on defective formula!

  • Trista

Ok… before you start BASHING moms who DO NOT BREASTFEED… SOME MOMS CAN’T BREASTFEED DUE TO HEALTH PROBLEMS AND OTHER ISSUES!!!!! This infuriates me when people start bashing moms who formula feed their babies. I tried to breastfeed. I went to lactation specialists for the first 3 months after my daughter was born, took pretty much every supplement available on the market to increase milk supply, power pumped and stimulated, prayed, etc. My milk supply NEVER CAME IN! Not to mention, my breasts never changed during or after pregnancy. I believe in breastfeeding 100% but some women just simply CAN’T! So why don’t you get off your high horse and ditch your holier than thou attitude!

  • Trista

Also… I’ve been keeping an eye but is it just 8oz, 12.4 and 12.9 oz? I have cans of 12.6 oz of Similac Sensitive. Does anyone know of any recall numbers on this if there is any??

  • Amanda

I would have to agree with everyone about Maryellen you should just keep your mouth shut i tried to breastfeed my little girl and my milk never came in it was heartbreaking that i could not ,but she is health and happy 7 month old little girl. so next think before you speak there is a reason that they make formula because so women can’t breastfeed.

  • JRB7700

Here is another lot number that has been recalled:
Similac Sensitive 1.45 lb tub: 90337T20.

  • Laura

Mary Ellen – Some babies are lactose intolerant and cannot have mommy’s milk. So get off your soap box and keep your statements to yourself. Why throw daggers?

  • Amy

Watch trying to take your formula back to WALMART, our fine Walmart will not take it back with out a receipt and who keeps receipts for formula, punishing our babies and in some cases not allowing them to eat!

  • SHAYNE

I CALLED AND THE REP SAID MINE WERE ON RECALL – HERE ARE MY NUMBERS:

    86766T20
    88109T20

HE STATED MOST OF THEM THAT HAVE “T2″ (BIGGER TUBS) OR “RB” (SMALLER CANS) ARE ON THE LIST.

  • Paul

i am a stay at home DAD , I can not breast feed and neither can my daughters Mother , MARY ELLEN kiss off my daughter is allergic to both MILK and SOY , so sorry we don,t do the RIGHT thing bugger off. I am currently trying to find out if the formula we feed our child is at risk she is on the similac special pre-digested stuff if anyone knows please e-mail me and as for people like MAry Ellen you sound like NANCY GRACE’S Perfect playpal . Sighned one mad dad

  • Nini123

Hello mothers I just found another recal1. It is the tub 88033T20 23.2 oz. Hope this helps. My son already finished it too and I’m pretty bummed. Does anyone know what I have to do now that he already drank it???? Good luck to ya all.

  • Piedad

Hello to all of tou….my called just went thru after trying for more than 2 hours it appears that my babys formula is not on recall but…. I also tried the website just to makesure had the same answer but since my daughter had all the symptoms i copied the numbers of this article into the website and still it said they were not in recall…..i advised you mothers even if they say is not in recall do not trust them and just switch the powder for the liquid one, i wish we could do something about it…. pleaseeeee be very carefull bcause the system is too busy and might just start to give wrong info……I cant believe this is happenig im disguisted by this and feel so useless…..

  • Natalie

Maryellen, your an a@&hole!! Not everyone can produce to nurse!! Why are you on here? Go get an utter cover and shut up! Don’t be rude cuz you can nurse and others CAN’T!! Some don’t want to others have NO choice!

  • cdr

Seriously Mary Ellen? There’s always one in every crowd ;) Thanks to all of you who have posted important information about this recall. As for Mary Ellen, get a life. I happened to choose formula feeding over breastfeeding because that was what I wanted to do. It has worked out wonderful…my children are very intelligent and rarely sick. As for the formula makers, I would imagine that this happens in all facilities at some point or another…actually any food type factory. Hope everyone gets the info they need and no need to dwell on the ignorant comment!

  • Mommy With A Brain!!

Yea you dumb bitch, some of us don’t produce enough milk to breastfeed our babies so what the fuck do you expect us to do?? Starve them?? Dumbass, some people shouldn’t be able to have kids.. and that’s you.. get educated on the subject idiot.. piss me the fuck off!!

  • AngryAtAbbott

Mary Ellen totally de-railed this thing, such an ignorant person! So, I use similac sensitive soy, is there another product out there that is similiar?? He suffers terribly on any other formula, the liquid is really much more expensive. Anyone with similar situation???

I must add how terribly dissapointed I am with Abbott, this has just shaken my faith in them. But what can I do? I can’t make my own formula!

  • Melissa

After trying and trying to get on the website. I finally got the number to call and it was busy! I got through a few time after that. My lil girls formula was on the recall to! She has been really fussy and spitting up more than she normaly does/is. Has anyones lil one had any side effect from this? I have called her ped, just waiting to her back.
Also there are lots more lot numbers I have heard. So to be sure I would call the hot line. Here is the number I called 1-800-986-8850

I also tried to breastfeed my baby! I never got my milk “in”. Like so many mommies I to would have loved to give my lil girl that nourishment. So dont just think that we who give our lil ones formula didnt even try!

  • Amy

Melissa My little boy has not been eating well the last week or so either, and I do think it was the formula. Hard to decide what to do, but the Dr says its ok at 7 months to change him to another brand. So forget Similac!

  • cdr

Similac now has a comprehensive list on their website. Our Wal Mart will accept the return. Check with your doc on changing formula brands. Usually it won’t be a problem. Good luck!

  • Vasudha Singh

My kid is showing the exact symptoms and I had been very worried since last 3 days. don’t know what to do.

  • Karl

Amy, watch for changing formula, he may be on solids before you find one that agrees with him. Use the liquid which is safe and stay wih what you have. All factories have problems like this, most don’t release it. The problem they found was in a very tiny sample and they closed the whole place down. Chances are formula out of this factory will be afer than any other on the market.

  • Melissa

Amy, I talked to her ped and she said that she should be fine. Just to watch her close, do to the teething it could be apart of it. I traded my recalled formula in on the liquid kind and she is already feeling better. So you judge! Her ped also said that I could switch to Enamil or Goodstart, they are the closest to Similac. You may try that if you are set of changing. Im gonna try after I use all the liquid similac.
here is the site that has a total list of the recalled cans http://abbott.vo.llnwd.net/o18/similac/sms/pdf/similac-recall-lot-numbers.pdf I hope this helps some with the ones who cant get any answers

  • Abbie

You have to go to their website. I have boxes of Go & Grow (have been using it for almost 2 months) and even before that using the large powder containers of Similac Advance–god knows what the implications are. She has had irregular bowel movements and low weight gain. My baby had to be solely formula fed after she turned 6 months. Wish they had figured this out much earlier.

  • Ashley

I finally got threw on the hotline. It is easier the later you call. They said it will be 4-6 weeks before you get a refund of any kind. WE have switched my sons formula four times. The doctors just said that he was picky and didnt like the taste… Kinda makes you wonder

  • Grace

Just an update. I went to BJ’s with no receipt and they gave me my refund no questions asked because it’s part of the recall. They took down all powder form and only had liquid. Good Luck everyone!

  • Dara

If anyone is still wondering how to get a refund, Walmart is giving cash for containers of Similac, even if it’s mostly empty. We’ve used Similac for our daughter since I stopped nursing her at 7 weeks, and for the past week she has been very fussy during feedings. Not normal.

As for Maryellen, thanks to everyone who stood up to her. I pumped exclusively for my son for six months and about wore myself to exhaustion with it. With my daughter, I decided to quit at 7 weeks because I couldn’t handle it anymore. The decision to stop breastfeeding was extremely difficult. It’s so encouraging to know there are lots of us out there in the same boat. Comments like Maryellen’s only make me feel worse. Breastfeeding works so well for some women, but not all. So DON’T JUDGE and STOP being so reckless with your ignorant comments, Maryellen. That may go well among your breastfeeding buddies, but welcome to the real world. We are not all as lucky as you.

  • Tracy

Costco took back all of my tubs both full and almost empty of similac advance powder. The dilemma was what to replace them with. My previous children had problems with the ready-to-feed, and that’s the only similac they had to replace it with. I decided to try the Kirkland (store brand). It shows on the can how it compares to both enfamil and similac, and nutritionally it’s great. When I made the first bottle I was amazed that the texture and color was just like similac. I can’t tell a difference, and my 6-mo old doesn’t seem to notice a difference either. Plus it’s 16.xx instead of 27.xx, so much cheaper. I was nervous about switching, but Costco said they would take it back if she didn’t like it. I think it may foam a little more but I always put one or two drops of gas drops in the bottle to dissolve the bubbles anyway. Anyway, my 2 cents.

  • Sarah

I have 3 cans plus a partial can of 12.4 oz of the Similac ADVANCE Early Shield left. The lot #’s on my cans are 91917RE. Below the lot #’s are these #’s, 199 1236. I gave all this info to someone I talked to at 1-800-227-5763. They said my cans of formula were not recalled. The other question I asked was what plant was my formula manufactured in? They did not know. They said they had no way of looking this up. They didn’t even know what plant the beetles were found in. These people should not be behind the phones giving out information if they can’t answer all questions. These beetles were discovered at a plant in Sturgis, Mich. Is there more than one plant? If my formula was made at another plant I would be more at ease to use what I have. Some of the #’s or letters on the container will identify the processing plant. They should teach these people answering the phones how to read there codes. Even though they said my cans were not recalled I will not be using them. It’s strange that the store I got my formula from pulled everything off there shelves. Don’t take any chances. One way or the other you will get reimbursed for unused formula. Buy another brand for now. Mary Ellen, this recall isn’t about mothers refusing to nurse. If you have been listening, it’s all about a Similac recall? This has happened with baby food. Have you ever bought a jar of baby food or a container of baby cereal, or do you make your own? I know several people that have adopted babies and people that are foster parents, also women that have had breast cancer. I don’t think any of these mothers had a magic wand that produced them breast milk.

Maryellen, let me preface this by saying i am a new parent and still learning. i am able to breast feed but my child’s needs have exceeded what i can produce. there are two main reasons why a parent would choose to use formula, one; they are unable to produce milk, or two they are unable to produce enough milk. both are out of the control of the parent. i choose to breast feed my child, i didn’t choose to have him exceed what i can make. my child needs nourishment making a uninformed comment on such a forum is ignorant. people are concerned about their child’s needs not what you think. most people who use formula would prefer to breast feed, but don’t have that choice. please be more compassionate before you make stupid statements.

My walmart has reduced the price of the liquid to compensate for the recall, check with your local store, and also there are coupons on the Similac website to print off…. Good Luck. (My daughter ate 2 entire tubs of the recall formula, had major symptoms for 2 entire weeks so miserable for her. She is fine now but she had already eaten them before the recall even happened.) Where is the compensation for her feeling miserable * for 2 weeks* and not being able to do anything about it… :o (
