While I have never really gotten hooked on the joys of Twitter, I will admit that it leads to some awfully awwwwww worthy announcements from celebrities, particularly when it comes to new babies. The latest to take on the new parent role? James Van Der Beek of “Dawson’s Creek” fame.
Van Der Beek, 33, and his wife Kimberly Brook welcomed their daughter, Olivia Van Der Beek, on September 25th. Van Der Beek announced Olivia’s arrival via Twitter, sharing that he’d “had the blessing of becoming a father over the weekend. Couldn’t come close to describing this bliss even if I had 140 million characters.”
The actor also warned fans in advance that he’s going to be a doting daddy. ”I apologize in advance for any obnoxiously precious new-dad tweets that may follow,” he wrote. “I’m under her spell…”
Van Der Beek and Brook married this August, another occasion that Van Der Beek shared with his fans via Twitter. ”The woman I love did me the honor of became [sic] my wife today… I look forward to earning her for the rest of my life.”
Brook is Van Der Beek’s second wife. He completed divorce proceedings with his first wife, Heather McComb, only months before though the two had been separated since April of 2009.
Little Olivia may only be 4 days old, but her daddy is already looking forward to the fun they’ll have together. In the first of his promised “precious new-dad tweets” he pondered how to make sure his little girl grows up a football fan - ”If I watch football w/ my daughter now, she’ll like the sounds of the NFL & want to watch it w/ me when she’s older.”
