When nine-year old Beatrice Delap wrote to Johnny Depp, asking for help to stage a mutiny against her teachers, the actor couldn’t resist. Johnny, who is currently filming the fourth installment of Pirates of the Caribbean, ‘On Stranger Tides’ arrived at Beatrice’s school, dressed as Captain Jack Sparrow.
The star went over to the school while on a break from shooting scenes from the popular movie franchise at a nearby 18th century Old Naval College, which is very close to the primary school in south-east London.
In the letter, Beatrice wrote, “Captain Jack Sparrow, At Meridian Primary School, we are a bunch of budding young pirates and we were having a bit of trouble mutiny-ing against the teachers, and we’d love if you could come and help.”
The school was informed just 10 minutes before the actor’s arrival, who was greeted with “incredible screams of joy” as he entered the school.
Beatrice was overjoyed to receive a hug from Johnny, who said, “Maybe we shouldn’t mutiny today ‘cos there are police outside monitoring me.”
This isn’t the first time Johnny has used his Jack Sparrow persona for a fun cause: he read bedtime stories to sick children in 2008 at a hospital dressed as the infamous pirate.
