Grover Does Old Spice Commercials? Sesame Street Takes on Pop Culture.

By Bridget Tyler on October 12th, 2010

Do you want to smell like a monster?  After watching Grover’s take on the popular “I’m on a horse” Old Spice commercials you’ll want to!  Sesame Street loves to tweak pop culture references, from television shows to rock songs to, now, commercials, for the purposes of entertaining and educating the young.  Grown up artists from Woody Allen to Jim Carey to R.E.M. to Britney Spears have done guest spots on the show.  Recently, and controversially, Katy Perry’s planned appearance was canceled after parents expressed concern that her outfit was too revealing.

The Muppet driven children’s show has always done its best to entertain adults, as well as children.  Now that the first generation of Sesame Street kids has children of their own, Sesame Street’s creations are even more popular.  Grover’s impression of the Old Spice guy, used to teach kids about the word “on,” is a big internet hit.  The short is both hilarious and educational -everything a good Sesame Street skit needs to be.
