Taylor Swift is not one to shy away from giving her ex-boyfriends a piece of her mind in her songs, but in her latest single, ‘Back to December’ the singer/songwriter offers up a new target: Herself. The song marks the first time Taylor has apologized for her behavior in a relationship.
Listen to Taylor Swift’s ‘Back to December’ below:
USA Today reports that Taylor admitted the song is “almost word-for-word” a conversation she had with the young man whose heart that she broke. “It’s a song and a conversation that needed to happen, because I don’t want to hurt people. If you unintentionally do so, you’ve got to make that better,” she said.
Though Taylor refused to name the former suitor deserving of her first in-song apology, the best guess circling the internet this morning is that ‘Back to December’ was written for Twilight star, Taylor Lautner.
Taylor and Taylor dated last year after the two filmed the movie ‘Valentines Day’ together in the summer of 2009.
“Then I think about summer all the beautiful times / I watched you laughing from the passenger side / And I realized I loved you in the fall,” Swift sings. She was photographed, smiling in his passenger seat last October.
“When your birthday passed, and I didn’t call” – Lautner turned 18 last February.
And finally, Taylor sings, “I miss your tan skin and you sweet smile / so good to me, so right.”
We’ll go with Taylor Lautner for the win!
