Tylenol Recall: Complaints of Moldy Odor

By Heather B on October 19th, 2010

Tylenol Recall 2010Tylenol has voluntarily recalled nearly 128,000 bottles of Tylenol 8-hour caplets.  McNeil decided to issue the product recall after consumers complained of a moldy odor in the products, which were sold in the United States and Puerto Rico.

“The uncharacteristic odor is thought to be caused by the presence of trace amounts of a chemical called 2,4,6-tribromoanisole,” McNeil said in a statement.  The company added that the recall is a precaution and that the risk of health issues is remote, however, they do suggest that customers stop using the products involved in the recall.

The product lot number for the recalled product can be found on the side of the bottle label.  The recalled products are as follows:

Product Name: Tylenol 8 Hour Caplet 50 Count

Lot Number: BCM155

UPC Code: 3 0045-0297-51 8

Customers seeking a refund of replacement coupon may call the company’s recall line (1-888-222-6036), or visit the Tylenol website.
