At just 19-years old, Juliette Brindak is the woman behind Miss O and Friends, a company with a staff of 30 – including her parents, and a valuation of $15 million. Her business is based on a series of young female characters that Juliette began drawing when she was only 10 years old. Everyone loved the characters, and Juliette was encouraged to keep drawing. It was a hobby that she enjoyed with her mother and younger sister.
When Juliette turned 13, she noticed that things get a bit rough for girls – boys come into the picture, school starts to become important, and there are a lot of changes both physically and emotionally. “I thought, ‘we should really start doing something for these girls,’” she told Junior Biz. “That’s what drove me to start Miss O.”
The Miss O and Friends website, designed for girls by girls, allows young women to interact with other girls their age, ask for advice, and play games. Miss O and Friends even have their own book, which College News reports has sold over 120,000 copies.
Juliette credits her success with determination and a strong support system, saying that those things are truly the key to being successful. “You have to find people who really believe in what you’re doing. Once you do that, you’ll do great things.”
Juliette is currently studying anthropology at Washington University in St. Louis, MO.
