After months of speculation, Mariah Carey and her husband, Nick Canon, have announced that they are expecting a new addition to their family. They confirmed the pregnancy in an exclusive interview with Access Hollywood’s Billy Bush.
“Yes, we are pregnant, this is true!” Mariah told Billy of the baby that is due this spring. “It’s been a long journey. It’s been tough because I’ve been trying to hold on to a shred of privacy.”
Mariah said its hit the point where she has to share her pregnancy, however. ”At this point, there is no choice. I either talk or I hibernate,” she said.
Carey, who is forty years old, is understandably protective of her delicate condition. Especially given the fact that she had an unexpected miscarriage two years ago. Mariah and Nick revealed, in their Access Hollywood interview, that they had just decided that they were ready to reveal the fact that they were expecting to friends and family when they found out that she was no longer pregnant.
“It kind of shook us both and took us into a place that was really dark and difficult,” Mariah told Billy. “When that happened… I wasn’t able to even talk to anybody about it. That was not easy.”
Carey made her recording debut in 1990 with the self titled album Mariah Carey. She has been in the public eye ever since. Nick Canon got his start as a sketch comedian on the teen show All That. Canon, 30, is now an actor, comedian, rapper and stand up comedian.
