If you’re anything like me, you bought your pumpkin well in advance of Halloween but it’s two days before the big day and it’s still sitting on your front porch waiting to be carved. What’s the problem? Trying to find the perfect design for that perfectly shaped pumpkin you spent 35 minutes picking out, that’s the problem.
Luckily, I’m here to help. While searching for my own ideas (and I’m no pumpkin carving expert, that’s for sure) I found some fun and easy (and unique) pumpkin carving design ideas to share with you!
Here are the top 5:

The Ghost – the ghost is an easy and creative way to make your pumpkin stand out from the rest. You don’t have too many intricate shapes to cut out, which makes this perfect for the novice carver.
The Spider – This design is a little trickier but still simple enough if you follow the photo. If you’re hesitant to try something too difficult too fast simple carve straight edges instead of spikes. Either way, this pumpkin is going to look incredible when lit.
The Tree - A spooky tree is a fun and unique idea for your pumpkin carving expedition this year. You can get as detailed (or un-detailed) as you like but the overall appearance will be spooky regardless.
The Goblin – This pumpkin actually looks harder than it is to create. The important part is finding your materials beforehand. Once you have the materials, it’s as easy as creating a normal pumpkin face but adding the accessories afterwards. Advanced carvers can attempt the tongue but it’s not essential to make this look work.
Super Mario – I have to admit, I probably wouldn’t be able to pull this one off (nor will I waste my pumpkin attempting to find out) but the simplicity of the design seems easy enough for intermediate carvers. Just remember to draw the design on in either pen or marker beforehand.
Good luck!
