At just 20-years old, Taylor Swift is the youngest person ever to win BMI’s Country Songwriter of the Year award.
Bill Anderson was previously the youngest songwriter to nab the honor, winning the award in 1960 when he was 23. Bill bested the record set by Johnny Cash, who won the award 7-years earlier at age 24.
Taylor’s self-recorded chart-topping compositions, ‘Fifteen,’ ‘White Horse,’ and ‘You Belong with Me’ no doubt helped the singer secure the honor. Taylor also won the BMI Country Song of the Year award with ‘You Belong with Me’ making her the only songwriter to win that award three years in a row.
It’s been a good year for Taylor, who currently finds her latest album, ‘Speak Now’ at the top of the country music charts.
The young star even finds herself in the top 10 on Forbes’ list of Hollywood’s Highest Earning Women [via Hollywood Life] – which has Taylor’s earnings listed at $45 million.
Congrats!
