Graeme Taylor, an openly gay 14-year-old student from Howell, Michigan, is standing up to educational professionals in his high school where a teacher was suspended after disciplining a student who was making anti-gay comments.
Graeme gave an eye-opening speech to the board of directors, urging them to reconsider their decision. He politely pointed out that the town’s reputation will be destroyed if they continue to support anti-gay bullying. He also revealed that he tried to kill himself when he was 9 because of the harassment he experienced from other students because he was gay.
This boy not only understands the importance of supporting the gay community (or any community, for that matter) but he also has a unique ability to convey a message in a professional yet hard-hitting way that makes people really think about what’s going on.
There’s no doubt in my mind that this young boy needs to make a living publicly speaking to students and teachers all over North America (and the rest of the world) about the effects of bullying.
For this reason, I urge you to leave your comments below in support of Graeme appearing on the Ellen Degeneres show.
If she knows about this boy, she will undoubtedly want to promote the message he’s trying to send.
Leave your comments below and help Graeme help the world!
