It’s the third week of November, the turkey is in the freezer, the recipes are all lined up for the big day and the hoards are about to invade. Among those hoards will likely be a number of extra tikes, who need something to do that does not involved destroying things, doing each other injury or watching way, way too much television.
Try this inspired Thanksgiving idea from Holidash – its both a fun project and a great way to protect your table from being permanently scarred by doing “kid’s table” duty.
You’ll need:
-One roll of brown paper – you can get this at Target, or most craft shops. Make sure it’s heavy enough to do table cloth duty.
-Sharpie marker
-double sided tape
-small dinner plate
-colored pencils, markers, or crayons
-small containers for the above – find something fun and festive (and not breakable).
-scissors
First, use the paper and the double stick tape to cover your table completely. Make sure you’ve got it firmly anchored, slipping and sliding paper is a recipe for disaster once the table is covered with your holiday meal.
Then use the plate as a template and draw a circle at each place at the table. If you’re feeling creative you can trace glasses and silverware too, creating a “table setting” that’s pre-drawn and both looks cool and helps little fingers figure out where to place their tableware.
Fill your containers with coloring supplies, set them out where you would your centerpieces and voila, a table that looks good, and will keep your munchkins entertained for hours.
