A happy ending in the tragic story of three missing brothers from Morenci, Michigan seems more and more unlikely as police open up about the investigation.
39-year-old John Skelton told police he tried to hang himself but was unsuccessful. He also told authorities that before he attempted suicide he gave his three sons – Andrew, 9, Alexander, 7, and Tanner, 5 – to a female friend he had reportedly met online.
As time goes by, police are becoming more and more convinced that the woman never existed and that something terrible has happened to the three young boys.
Criminal profiler Pat Brown is also convinced that Skelton’s story is a lie and the whole story is “bogus.”
Brown also suspects that something awful has happened to the young boys, especially after this message he left on his Facebook page just a day earlier:
“I love my wife very much, may God and Tanya [John’s ex-wife] forgive me.”
It is this statement, says Brown, which may ultimately prove (if the boys aren’t found alive) that premeditation was involved in the crime.
