Alex Welch, the dancer that Demi Lovato allegedly punched in the face – the altercation said to be behind the Disney star’s decision to enter treatment – has lawyered up and intends to take Demi to court.
The dancer is said to have been forced to seek emergency treatment after the attack and further consultation from a cosmetic surgeon. Radar Online reports that Alex needed “emergency medical care” and is “now consulting a Beverly Hills ears, nose and throat plastic surgeon.”
Alex’s lawyer, Donald Karpel says that he and his client will file a lawsuit in the coming weeks, seeking “punitive damages for assault, battery and for mental stress.”
The back-up dancer, who was on tour with Demi and the Jonas Brothers when the fight occurred, says she has yet to receive an apology from the Disney star.
“To this day I haven’t gotten an apology. I’ve heard nothing. That’s sad if you think that person is your friend [via PEOPLE].”
However, sources close to Demi explain “Demi hasn’t been able to call Alex because she is sequestered in treatment, but multiple efforts have been made to reach out to her.”
Demi’s spokesperson insists that the Disney star feels terrible about what happened and maintains that she is completely committed to her treatment.
