Lisa Ling: New Website Helps Women Cope with Tragedy (Watch)!

By Bridget Tyler on December 15th, 2010

Former host of The View, Lisa Ling, talked about her miscarriage on the morning talk show on Friday, confessing that it made her feel like “such a failure.”  That’s why she’s started her new website, secretsocietyofwomen.com.  The site will provide a space for women to vent their secret fears and despairs, and to help each other through tragedies like the one she’d experienced.

“When I found out that I had miscarried it was really such a shock to the system because I felt like such a failure and I really felt very alone,” Ling told Entertainment Tonight. “Well, I came to learn that so many of my friends had miscarried. I mean, it is so commonplace and so pervasive but nobody talks about it because women generally feel so much shame when they discuss it.”

Ling is one of several celebrities who have talked publicly about miscarriages this year, including Mariah Carey, who only started discussing hers when she admitted to being pregnant again with twins.

Ling wants women to have a place to talk freely, about miscarriage and anything else they need support with.  Hopefully her new secret society will be just that.
