The Consumer Product Safety Commission is recalling more than 220,000 piggy banks sold by Oriental Trading Company because they contain excessive amount of lead paint which are prohibited under federal law. There have been no injuries reported yet and Oriental Trading Company and the CPSC are trying to make sure it stays that way.
The recalled piggy bank is painted yellow with floral designs. The ceramic lion bank is painted yellow with a brown mane. The banks measure about 4 inches in length, 2.5 inches in width, and 3.5 inches in height. Only yellow banks with black plastic stoppers in the bottoms of the banks are being recalled. Banks with white or translucent stoppers are not being recalled.

These items were sold through the Oriental Trading’s website, FunExpress.com and catalogs from February 2003 through September 2010 for $7 – 20 a dozen.
