Planning to go to Disneyland this holiday season? Buy your tickets in advance or show up early, Disneyland started turning people away before lunch for the second day in a row Tuesday.
A park spokeswoman said the park stopped selling tickets at 10 a.m.
“This stoppage is fairly typical for us during our holiday peak period,” Betty Sanchez told CNN. “Certainly we want all of our guests to have the best guest experience, so we have measures in place to make sure that we deliver the best time.”
When Disney gets overbooked like this, people are usually redirected to California Adventure, but even that alternate park has been over crowded.
“We stopped selling tickets briefly at the California Adventure, as well,” Sanchez said. Sanchez’s explanation for crowds is great weather and great deals for the holidays. Both things that draw crowds.
Disney World, Disneyland’s larger East Coast cousin, has been working to move their own crowds of visitors through the park. They have installed a new underground bunker that allows them to monitor all areas of the park and immediately intercede if one particular ride becomes too crowded. If officials see a gridlock coming, they can order a parade to a less crowded area of the park or send Disney characters to entertain the crowds.
It sounds like Disneyland could use a little of the same anti-gridlock management.
